Arthritis
Clinical studies published in peer-reviewed
journals have reported that patients with rheumatoid arthritis1,2 cardiovascular
disease3,4 and depression5,6 are often deficient in the vital nutrients: omega-3’s (DHA & EPA), folic acid, or vitamins B6 and B12.
Taking omega-3 and B vitamins addresses these deficienies and may reduce cardiovascular
risk* and other symptoms.
Omega-3
“Some patients who take [Omega-3] are able
to discontinue NSAIDs without experiencing a disease flare.” *
Kremer,
J.M., et al. Arthritis & Rheumatism1995;38:1107–1114.
B Vitamins
“In patients with RA [rheumatoid arthritis],
Hcy [homocysteine] levels can be reduced by treatment with B-vitamins.”

*FDA “Qualified Health Claims” Omega-3 Fatty Acids & Coronary Heart Disease.
Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
FDA evaluated the above claim and determined that, although there is scientific
evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive. Docket No. 9IN-0103.
** FDA “Qualified Health Claims” B vitamins & Vascular Disease. As part of a
well-balanced diet that is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, Folic Acid, Vitamin
B6 and Vitamin B12 may reduce the risk of vascular disease. FDA evaluated the above
claim and found that, while it is known that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol
reduce the risk of heart disease and other vascular diseases, the evidence in support
of the above claim is inconclusive. Docket No. 99P-3029.
